Proper criteria for changing from conventional oil to AMSOIL

I have been asked many times “How do I properly switch to AMSOIL Synthetic lubricants?”

1. The first thing I suggest is that you clean your engine … internally. Here’s how: Obtain a bottle of AMSOIL Engine and Transmission Flush (FLSHCN). Follow the easy instructions on the bottle. (For gasoline and diesel engines)

Bring the engine to operating temperature.
Carefully pour the entire bottle (16 ounces) to engine oil fill port.
Idle engine for 10 – 15 minutes, then immediately drain oil; and remove oil filter.
CAUTION: Oil and filter will be HOT, take precautions.
Install new AMSOIL Oil Filter.
Fill with new AMSOIL engine oil.

A full synthetic (PAO Group IV) will continually clean your engine. If you do not clean your engine first, using AMSOIL synthetic oil will clean your engine while you drive. Any sludge, varnish and other deposits in the engine will be removed and filtered through your oil filter and may reduce flow through your oil filter which could decrease flow in the engine before the next oil change.
